If you feel a post is inappropriate

Hi folks,

Just a quick note in regards to the moderation of the group. Sometimes if I am a bit short on time or if we get a lot of posts at once I may have to just skim the overall gist of the posts rather than reading them word for word before I approve them, also we all have a different perspective as to what is acceptable and thus there may sometimes be the odd post that gets through that you may feel is inappropriate. And while this doesn’t seem to happen very often if there is anything that anybody reads and feels is inappropriate then please feel free to either shoot me a PM or use the contact form to let me know and I will always be happy to take another look at it.

Please keep in mind however that a post does have to be quite bad or harmful to the group as a whole for us to delete it, I don’t like to be too heavy handed with that kind of moderation and try to reserve it for only when it is absolutely necessarily as generally I like people to be able to have their say and most things can be ironed out with dialogue and often we can all learn from it, that said if you feel something is inappropriate like I say please feel free to let me know and I will be happy to take another look.

All the best,

About Me: I hope that my brief bio might match up to a few others in hopes that any information shared might be a good expectation. I'm 46, a small business owner, very fit, well-traveled, educated. You would not know that I smoke the drug every day. I keep up a good professional persona. I've been smoking steady for 6 years now. I feel like Rip Van Winkle..."where has the time gone?" I'm lazy, unmotivated (I force myself to workout 4 times a week), I enjoy way too much alone time. And... I have aged a great deal in the past 3 years. I used to look 5 to 8 years younger than my age. I've read good information about pot, addictive behaviors and withdrawals. But what I do not know is..and the question is:

After quitting and getting through it all...let's say a year down the road:
Does the dope leave a permanent shadow in the body and the brain?
Does the face and eyes recover from that haggered look and regain some youthful spark?
Does motivation, excitement and being social improve?

Thank you all for reading and I appreciate any knowledge :0)

Hi Roam and welcome to the forum.

How much will I recover? It’s probably one of the questions we all would like to know the answer to the most and understandably so, it’s probably the one thing that is most important to all of us. Unfortunately I think it can be one of the hardest to answer and not something any of us really know for sure, how we look on the outside aside although I am sure people do start to look better after quitting, the main two things smoking marijuana can affect is your lungs and your brain, I have seen experts interviewed on both things and they said the following, the damage that has been done to the lungs is permanent apparently they don’t have the ability to repair themselves, although I think the tar and flem does clear with time, the black stuff I was coughing up did, in terms of the brain the doctor I watched an interview with said that there is a significant difference, in different people’s ability to recover from the way in which drink and drugs (including marijuana, they had scans to prove it) had stopped their brain from working properly, he said some fair much better than others.

Anyway well done on your decision to quit, we are glad you have found us, take care, thanks for posting and please keep us posted on how it goes.

Hi Roam, about a year and three months ago I stopped after 15 years of everyday smoking. I don't have any hard scientific data but I can give you the benefit of my personal experience.

I feel M U C H better physically, mentally and emotionally, although it took a while for the fog to clear, about six to nine months.
I have more mental clarity and sharpness, better memory, more motivation, more energy, no cough, I actually feel awake when I wake up in the morning rather than feeling like a zombie.
My personal belief is that if you use your mind and body a lot, and it sounds like you do, it will aid rehabilitation and you can be as good as or better than you were previously. But regardless of whether it has any permanent residual affect or not, quitting surely has to be better than persisting; right ?

Only a few weeks after I quit people were remarking on how much healthier and how spritely I looked. They said I had more colour in my face and didn't look so tired. I think you will see and feel a difference very quickly, also the dramatic change in self esteem is visible to others.

It's taken me until now to repair my social life, I was the original hermit and rarely needed to go out anyway because a lot of people would come round for a smoke. I still enjoy time to myself but socialising is fun again and I get invited out a lot more just by being out more.
I've also started doing some of my old hobbies again: getting outdoors, camping, hiking, playing chess....

If you need any more good reasons to detox hit me up and I'm sure I could find some.

      Good luck
