So, after smoking daily with few interruptions for 32 years, I finally became disgusted with what pot has done to my cognitive abilities and quit.
I've been pretty chronic, that's for sure. Many years ago I went to cannabis rehab and they told me I had the highest THC levels they've ever seen. I told them that I'm used to scoring high on tests but that wasn't exactly what I wanted to hear.
Over the last several years my wife and I have been growing our own so it has been plentiful and potent.
It has been 10 days now and I still have a light buzz, which I understand is to be expected.
Here's what I didn't expect -- while my short term memory has improved remarkably, I have had some inexplicable memory problems that have been creeping me out, like forgetting the name of an acquaintance I've known quite awhile, or the 4 digit combination to the laptop lock I've had at work for 2 years.
On the other hand, I have tried to enter in passwords that I should have forgotten months ago, and old resident addresses and phone numbers pop into my head at random times.
Is this something anyone else has experienced relatively early in the detox period? Everything I've read (which has been a lot) says that the cognitive problems are definitely reversible, so I'm assuming that this is just a weird phenomenon of my brain rewiring itself.
Anyway, I am SO pleased with myself that I have quit under no duress like probation, threat of divorce, or something else imposed on me. A couple of weeks ago it would have taken me a half hour to come up with a post this long, whereas I whacked out this very coherent message just now in a mere 5 minutes.
