If you feel a post is inappropriate

Hi folks,

Just a quick note in regards to the moderation of the group. Sometimes if I am a bit short on time or if we get a lot of posts at once I may have to just skim the overall gist of the posts rather than reading them word for word before I approve them, also we all have a different perspective as to what is acceptable and thus there may sometimes be the odd post that gets through that you may feel is inappropriate. And while this doesn’t seem to happen very often if there is anything that anybody reads and feels is inappropriate then please feel free to either shoot me a PM or use the contact form to let me know and I will always be happy to take another look at it.

Please keep in mind however that a post does have to be quite bad or harmful to the group as a whole for us to delete it, I don’t like to be too heavy handed with that kind of moderation and try to reserve it for only when it is absolutely necessarily as generally I like people to be able to have their say and most things can be ironed out with dialogue and often we can all learn from it, that said if you feel something is inappropriate like I say please feel free to let me know and I will be happy to take another look.

All the best,

    marijuana withdrawal symptoms relief
I was wondering if there are any good marijuana alternatives worth smoking? Just so I can still smoke something to help me quit.

I have tried a few of the so called “marijuana alternatives” and never found them to be much good, it’s not worth damaging your lungs for the effect or lack of it they have in my opinion, also even if you do find one you like it’s best not to swap one habit for another.

Exercise is the best alternative to cannabis. Much better for the lungs than smoking anything.

If you mixed tobacco with your cannabis then personally I would recommend continuing to smoke tobacco and deal with one addiction at a time, if once you are well and truly over your cannabis addiction, you want to detox tobacco too, do so then, that’s just my opinion.

I used to do the trick of making a spliff with just tobacco too, I think part of the detox may be for unfiltered tobacco, I found it helped anyhow.

            the tobacco trick

I was a chronic..and found myself rolling tobacco spliffs when I had no pot..moreso after a few drinks when the cravings were immense. I quit yesterday and expect I will try that trick in the future...at least it will get me through the night without leaving detectable the drug in my system...day 1..
I am not going to detox forever..but have to abstain as long as I hold a **** test job...

Does anyone know if its ok to drink alcohol while going through the cannabis rehabilitation process or will it prolong recovery? I wouldnt be swapping one addiction for another as I was drinking every night but have cut back to 2 evenings a week. Thanks

at the end of the day, the drug affects your cannabanoid receptors, and to my knowlege there is no drug out there other than cannabis that affects your cannabanoid receptors, so you could take mdma, heroin, cocain, mushrooms and so on and your never going to get the same buzz because they dont bind to cannabanoid receptors. i think thats whats so hard about quitting weed.

Drinking one or two nights a week may not be a problem, but if you do it too regularly it can be really easy to swap one addiction for another.

Just to update you on the whole marijuana alternatives thing, there are some smoking mixtures you can buy that unlike a lot of them do have an effect, they are legal in some countries and not in others and contain a synthetic chemical very similar to THC that stimulates cannabis receptors, however if you are a person for whom cannabis is causing a problem, a lot of the problems associated with smoking marijuana may also apply to smoking this and it could actually be worse. Plus your still swapping one chemical that stimulates cannabis receptors for another. For more information you may want to read this post.

I agree I don’t think there’s any point in swapping one cannabis receptor stimulating chemical for another, natural or synthetic. Whichever way you look at it it’s pushing the same buttons in your brain.

cannabis is so much worse than alcohol i know a lot of people might not think this is true but in the future when more research is done on cannabis use, especially long term use, the truth will out. There really are no statistics on long term marijuana use as an epidemic at the moment. Alcohol isnt healthy or risk free by any means, but u know where u are with it, u can feel the effect it has on u physically, if u overdo it you'll know about it, and 90 percent of people know their limits with it. Youll always get some people that abuse it just like u will with food, caffeine, marijuana and anything else. Cannabis use doesnt usually have the same physical downside as alcohol, not immediately anyway, many pro-smokers champion the fact that u cant overdose on it, but in reality its a silent and manipulating drug.

The fact that u dont dream when your a cannabis smoker should be a warning for us, if that isnt a sign that mental cognitive problems are being created, especially memory related, then i dont know what is. Regular drinkers, not abusers, dont get this effect.

Hi and if you have not posted before welcome to the forum.

Personally I think it depends on the individual, sure there are many who are probably far more addicted to alcohol than we may be to marijuana, but at the same time there are some who can take or leave alcohol, drink now and again on occasion, but find themselves heavily dependent on pot, that’s why I don’t really like the which is worse type drugs argument in regards to things like alcohol or marijuana, because they are broad generalisations which totally fail to take into consideration the different experiences of the individual, for some people alcohol may be more of a problem for others it may be marijuana, it all depends what you have a liking for, personally I prefer to be high than drunk, that’s why marijuana became my habit. But most drugs can be a problem if you over do them and different drugs affect people in different ways, for example smoking marijuana is worse than alcohol for the lungs, drinking alcohol is worse than smoking marijuana for the liver, so when people talk about which is “worse” I think you have to ask worse for what? Then there’s the way that different individuals react to different drugs, marijuana may cause mental health problems for some but not necessarily for others. So I think that we always need to look at our own relationship with the particular drug in question and at how we are reacting to it and try to leave labels and generalisations of which is “worse” aside.

Sorry to disagree slightly, I hope you don’t find me too contrary, I do respect your opinion but perhaps see it a little different, although I do agree with you that we still don’t really know the long term effects of smoking marijuana, especially the stuff that’s so much higher in THC that has become so popular over the last few years, yes I know high THC forms of cannabis have been available for a long time, i.e. extremely high grade hash, oil, ect, but the reality is that not that many people smoked it, most people smoked a much lower THC type of cannabis than they do today. And I think this higher THC type of cannabis may be especially problematic for certain peoples mental health in the long term, especially in regards to anxiety and depression.

I also agree that cannabis can be a problem with memory and cognitive problems, it certainly was for me and I also agree that the fact you don’t remember your dreams is probably also not a good sign, it certainly seems to be interfering in some way with that particular aspect of the body’s/brains natural process. I also agree that it creeps up on you a lot more quietly than a lot of other drugs, but when you look at your life after many years of using it to how it was before, you often notice that it is significantly different.

Anyway take care and thanks for posting.

Hi, to answer you question, I think some altertnatives to marijuana are exercising, working (at work), food, caffeine. This is just my opinion and may not work for others. I just barely started my quit and am noticing I am doing these things more, especially exercising. Good luck all!
