Default How long will my anxiety persist?

    Hi all,

I'm a previous heavy medical user, at my peak using 400mg THC a day of edibles plus vaping concentrates. I've been using for around four years, though I only reached that particular dose in the last six months. Now my doctors found a med that actually helps me, so I can cut down! Only I cut down way, way too fast. I've gone from maybe 210mg daily plus concentrates to about 40mg, if that. I started noticing anxiety maybe a week after dropping down, and three weeks in it shows no signs of stopping. Constant anxious chest pain, sense of impending doom, panic attacks, nightmares, being convinced an natural disaster is going to kill me at any second, it's awful.

    My question is:
how long do you think this will persist given my history? I'm not quitting cold turkey, I still take 40mg or so a day for pain, but it's clearly not enough to prevent the withdrawal symptoms. I don't want to have to up my weed to the old max and taper it down, but if this is going to go much over a month I might.

One note: I am bedbound and cannot exercise due to medical conditions. So I can't use that for relief. I have a Klonopin script from my psych but I'm saving it only for the worst times. Is there any else I can do to make this easier on myself?

    Thank you so much!

Smile Well, there are plenty of us wishing you the best.

How long is a piece of string?
You situation is unique and rather challenging due to the physical constraints.

Is there light at the end of the tunnel with regards to your immobility?

I can't imagine trying to quit and being bedridden, quite the challenge.
definitely difficult and i just want to say i've read your post and think about it often.

I think after a month or so the anxiety from withdrawal might be over shadowed by the anxiety of being bed ridden.

It's a tough situation but know you are not being ignored, it's just a hard one to give any good advice, not that i'm an expert on any advice.

i'm on day 21 cold turkey (19 yr heavy user) but have for now good enough health to keep active and that definitely makes it easy.

You also have what seems like the strongest form of THC possible.
i don't even know how to convert mgTHC to grams of weed smoked w/20% THC.

but the important thing you HAVE CUT BACK!
    Congratulations on at least that...
break it up into each day and break each day up into hours, minutes...etc.
then you can be proud of each time period you've managed.

i'm finding much of my health issues were related to pot smoking and surprisingly maybe in coming months those symptoms will also disappear.
like the phlegm with black specks....scary...! like WTF am i coughing up!

Good Luck with it and try to keep positive.
Have Visitors to talk to, that helps pass the time.
This site and others have plenty of willing souls to correspond with!

Ask the "Cosmic Plot" for some help, sometimes you never know who's listening.
    Can't hurt! Miracles do exist!
At least you know there is one Desert Newtsy who cares...me!
